Privacy for Nine Men's Morris

Nine Men's Morris does not require you to register. These notes are limited to data the game actually stores.

On this device

Nine Men's Morris saves the local scoreboard here, along with which points are occupied in an unfinished local game, and it may save the difficulty used for the computer. That scoreboard does not receive online matches. Undoing one finished computer game can take its result back off the scoreboard. Clearing the stored data for this site removes those records from the browser.

So a reload can continue the same online match, the browser keeps an anonymous token for the session. Clearing site data removes the token here. The row on the server is not removed by that step. Do not send the token onward.

On the game server

Supabase is the matchmaking store. It records an anonymous player, queue entries, seats, the position, and the moves both browsers need in order to show the same game. After thirty days a player record expires. An active game ends once ten minutes pass without a move, and polling the server does not stretch that window. Finished match rows remain; they are not deleted automatically when play stops.

Nine Men's Morris keeps a single public queue rather than a private room. An invitation link will not build a private table and will not match you with the sender. Should the queue stay empty for roughly ten seconds, this page leaves the queue and continues against the computer on the device.

Hosting and fonts

Vercel hosts the static pages. Supabase hosts the game server. The type is fetched from Adobe Fonts. Those three can see ordinary connection details, an IP address among them, while they deliver the page, the match, or the font.

Advertising

These Nine Men's Morris pages do not request a Google ad script, and this change does not insert an ad unit. A verification tag for the publisher, a file named ads.txt, or an empty box called an advertisement is not itself an ad request. If advertising from Google is enabled at a later time, Google and its partners may set third-party ad cookies, and similar identifiers, for ads, measurement, and fraud checks. Read how Google uses advertising cookies and how Google uses information from partner sites for Google's own account of it.
